Primary Performing Arts
The Primary School Performing Arts program is a fresh and exciting opportunity for students to build confidence, explore creativity and have some fun. Previously, the Primary School only offered music education however; after seeing the potential for growth, the Primary Performing Arts Department has grown from strength to strength. Mercy College now offers not only education in Music, but also in Drama, Dance and Musical Theatre, many of which offer opportunities for students to perform their work such as our Primary Dance Showcases and our bi-annual Primary School Musical Production. As Albert Einstein wrote: “It is the supreme art of the teacher, to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge”.
Primary Performing Arts Teams
Mercy College Primary is fortunate to have many opportunities for students to excel in an extra-curricular capacity. One such way is within the Performing Arts. Primary students from Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 are given the chance to be a part of the Primary Performance Choir whilst students from Years 4, 5 and 6 can be a part of the Primary Dance Team and the Primary Liturgical Dance Team. All these groups work towards many events throughout the year such as the Catholic Performing Arts Festival, Wakakirri, Carols by Candlelight, the Mercy College Spring Music Festival, the Annual Mercy Dance Showcase and many more. We are so proud of what our teams have been able to achieve and look forward to many more creative moments together.
