Learning Centres - SLC

Having a Senior Learning Centre (SLC) at Mercy College enables us to treat students like young adults. The SLC is committed to creating a dynamic learning environment where students can achieve excellence. We are committed to ensuring that students are given every opportunity to achieve their potential within the SLC environment. The fundamental basis to our program is the belief that all students have the ability to learn and progress, and that this will be enhanced by appropriate teaching and learning styles and through access to learning technologies.

The welfare of individual students is well supported through established structures within the SLC organisation. Students are given opportunities to express and develop their leadership potential and to provide service to others in the tradition of our Mercy ethos.

The educational program in the SLC is designed to support the development of the whole person - a person with positive self-image who seeks excellence and respects the rights of others.

Year 10 is a formation year where we prepare our students for the rigours and challenges of Years 11 and 12. It is a time when students are carefully counselled and nurtured into making informed decisions regarding their Year 11 and 12 choices of study. Unique programs of work prepare students for TEE or VET pathways.
