Curriculum - Technology & Enterprise

The Technology and Enterprise department at Mercy College is an exciting and innovative learning area where students apply knowledge, skills, experience and resources to the development of technological solutions that are designed to meet the changing needs of individuals and societies within a technological environment.

In addition to these learning areas, Mercy College also offers vocational education training in the form of TAFE endorsed certificate courses.
Vocational programs for Year Nine, Year Ten, Year Eleven and Year Twelve students are also offered.

Areas of qualifications include:

  • Certificate I in Information Technology;
  • Certificate I in Business;
  • Certificate I in Work Preparation;
  • Certificate I in Light Furnishings;
  • Certificate I in General Education for Adults;
  • Certificate I in Sports Recreation;
  • Certificate II in Business;
  • Certificate II in Information Technology.

Vocational Education and Training (VET) involves developing close partnerships with TAFE and by completing these certificate courses, students are not only working towards their Secondary Graduation (WACE), but also towards TAFE qualifications.  Students will be able to use these qualifications to further their learning experiences at university, TAFE or the workforce. 

All VET students participate in Structured Workplace Learning (SWL), which allows students to gain an insight into their selected career path and experience the requirements of working within this industry or profession.  Many of our students have gained part-time and full-time employment as a result of their experiences at SWL.
